Mushroom Coffee

Mushroom coffee can be dated back to ten years. It is a type of coffee that is blended with medicinal mushrooms, such as reishi, chaga, or lion’s mane. These mushrooms are believed to provide various health benefits, such as boosting immunity, reducing inflammation, and improving cognitive function.

Usually there are two types of mushroom coffee that you can find on the market.

1. To use coffee grounds (powder) to mix a certain of mushroom water extracts. (Mushroom extracts are a powder form of mushroom products after mushroom being processed by water extraction or ethanol extraction, which has potent benefits and its costs are higher than mushroom powder)

Or to use coffee grounds to mix a certain of mushroom fruiting body powder. (Mushroom fruiting body powder is a powder form of mushroom products that being processed by superfine grinding which keeps mushroom’s original flavor and the costs are relatively cheaper than mushroom extracts)

Normally, this type of mushroom coffee is packed in composite materials (aluminum or kraft paper) bags with 300-600 grams.

This type of mushroom coffee needs to brew.

2. The other type of mushroom coffee is a formula of instant coffee powder with mushroom extracts or other herbs extracts (such as rhodiola rosea, cardamun, ashwaganda, cinnamon, basil, etc.)

The key point of this mushroom coffee is instant.  So the formula are usually packed in a sachets (2.5 g – 3g), 15-25 sachets in a paper box or just in a bigger bags (60-100 g).

Proponents of both above two types of mushroom coffee claim that they can have a variety of health benefits, such as boost energy levels, improve mental clarity, support the immune system, and reduce inflammation.

What we can do about mushroom coffee:

1. Formulation: We have worked on mushroom coffee for more than ten years, and so far we have more than 20 formulas of mushroom coffee (instant drinks) and about 10 formulas of mushroom coffee grounds. All of them have been selling well on the market of North America, Europe and Oceania.

2. Blending and Packaging: We can blend and pack the formula to bags, sachets, metal tins (powder form).

3. Ingredients: We have long-term suppliers of packing materials, coffee ground powder or instant powder (from the manufacturer in China, or from some importers whose coffee are from South America or Africa and Vietnam)

4. Shipping: We know how to deal with the fulfillment and logistics. We have been shipping the final product to Amazon fulfillments that customers can focus on the operation of E-commerce.

What we can’t do:

Due to the regulations of Organic certificate, we can’t handle EU or NOP organic coffee, even though our own mushroom products are organic certified.

So for organics, some customers import our Organic mushroom products, and process it in a co-packer of their country mixing with other organic ingredients that they imported by themselves.

In my personal opinion: Organic is not the most important selling point.

The key (or selling) points of mushroom coffee:

1. Expected potent benefits from mushroom: Mushroom literally have their own unique benefits which can be felt shortly.

2. Prices: Normally in America, A unit mushroom coffee (instant) is about 12-15 dollar, while a bag of mushroom coffee ground is about 15-22 dollars. It is a bit higher than traditional coffee products which also have more potential profits.

3. Flavor: Some people don’t like mushroomy tastes, so there isn’t a lot of proportion of mushrooms powder or extract (6% is the max). But people will need the benefits from mushrooms.      While some people like mushroomy flavor or other herbs.   So it will be another formula with quite more mushrooms (could be 10%).

4. Packages: The designing work (art work) will be very important to catch people’s eye.

While the health benefits of mushroom coffee are still being researched, many people enjoy it as a tasty and nutritious alternative to regular coffee. However, it’s important to note that some people may experience adverse reactions to mushrooms, so it’s best to consult with a healthcare professional before adding mushroom coffee to your diet.

Last but not least, the mushroom species that used most in this field: Reishi, Lion’s mane, Cordyceps militaris, Turkey tail, Chaga, Maitake, Tremella (this is going to be a new tendency).
